Dhavelin Chetty is an accomplished professional in the telecommunications and mobile billing industry, currently serving as Global Senior Manager, Carrier Billing at Basebone. With a career spanning over two decades, he is recognized for his unique ability to bridge the gap between technical development and business strategy.
Dhavelin leads the company’s billing infrastructure strategy, overseeing the end-to-end integration of global billing platforms with mobile network operators (MNOs) and aggregators. He specializes in orchestrating large-scale system migrations, ensuring data integrity and seamless service continuity for millions of global transactions.
A hallmark of his work is collaborating closely with major Telecommunications providers to optimize payment flows and revenue strategies. These optimizations are achieved while strictly maintaining compliance standards and the integrity of data, balancing commercial growth with rigorous industry regulations. His extensive experience includes direct engagement with key players at all the mobile network operators in South Africa.
Beyond South Africa, his expertise extends to markets including Safaricom in Kenya and Vodafone in Mozambique, as well as managing relationships with aggregators in the Middle East region.
Having served on the board previously, this is not a new experience for Dhavelin and he looks forward to growing the collaboration between all stakeholders of WASPA for the benefit of this unique industry. With his experience working for a global content provider, an aggregator (both Billing and bulk) and being on the WASPA board, he believes he is well placed to understand the challenges that face the future of the industry and offer guidance and strategic input into how WASPA can tackle these challenges.
