Motivation:

As the value-added services (VAS) landscape undergoes rapid evolution, the regulatory frameworks governing it must evolve at the same pace. My motivation for joining the WASPA Board is driven by a commitment to bridging the gap between robust consumer protection and forward-thinking digital innovation. Through my role at Africa’s Talking, I interact daily with the fast-growing developer, startup, and SME ecosystem. I see firsthand how modern CPaaS and API integrations are reshaping how society communicates, transacts, and builds businesses. I want to bring this “developer-first” perspective to the WASPA board. It is vital that our industry guidelines protect the consumer without creating accidental barriers to entry that stifle the next generation of software innovators and small tech enterprises.

Furthermore, my professional footprint spans deep exposure to Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) across the African continent, who frequently engage Africa’s Talking as a trusted thought leader in the telecommunications space. This unique access, combined with my background as a pan-African tech entrepreneur, having co-founded a fintech startup and scaled operations across regions, allows me to offer a vital macro-perspective on how digital regulations play out on a larger scale. I thoroughly understand the delicate balance required to manage relationships between MNOs, downstream providers, and end-users while strictly upholding compliance, transparency, and data security. I am eager to contribute my operational expertise, entrepreneurial agility, and passion for inclusive tech ecosystems to WASPA. By serving on the board, I aim to ensure that WASPA remains a proactive, tech-driven regulatory body that safeguards South African consumers while actively championing a competitive, vibrant, and innovative mobile communications industry.
