I am writing to nominate myself for the vacant board position at WASPA. When I read that there was a vacancy, I knew that my experience in mobile telecoms and digital services over the last 17 years would be uniquely suited for the vacant board position.
Over my career, I’ve been fortunate to be a participant in the rapid communications and connectivity shift that GSM mobile technology has afforded the African continent. GSM has empowered customers like no other technology before it. That shift is now continuing in the growth of mobile data and internet access across the continent.
Having started my career in mobile telecoms in 2004, I’ve worked with over 40 mobile operators, including several strategic partners and technology vendors across 23 countries on the African continent. My focus has been on numerous revenue-generating and customer-centric initiatives in mobile value-added services, digital content services, fintech solutions and management consulting services.
I believe that this experience provides me with a unique perspective of the digital and value-added services industry. Having started my career at almost the inception of the WASP industry in South Africa, I have witnessed the industry’s growth. I believe my unique experience and perspectives collected over my career would add value to WASPA and the broader industry.
